How is the procedure performed?

Once the catheter is in place, coils are placed into the vein to block blood flow to the varicocele. This blockage reduces pressure and swelling in the affected vein and can improve sperm count and motility in men experiencing infertility.

The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic and light sedation, allowing most patients to go home the same day. The recovery period typically spans a few days to a week, during which time patients may experience mild pain and discomfort in the scrotum.
